Question: Would this be a carbon fiber helmet? I want a safe helmet, not a novelty helmet, and I have seen some that are much smaller profile than the typical space alien looking helmet. Any suggestions?
Answer: Anything DOT is going to sit 1 1/2 -2 inches from your head. One of the distinctions between a skid lid and an approved helmet is the thickness and density of the styrofoam liner. A standard or 3/4 helmet has less of that ( flying saucer head ) look. Or just get an unapproved helmet and don't fall on your head.
