Question: My wife is trying needlepoint for the first time. The hoop she bought consists of a plastic hoop and a metal hoop that fits inside the plastic hoop and can be resized. We can't for the life of us figure ut how to put on the canvas. We have tried to put the canvas on the metal hoop, compress the open end to make the hoop smaller and slip it into the plastic hoop (as looks to be the most obvious approach), but that seems to be impossible. Does the metal hoop go on the outside? This seems to be a standard design (my wife bought it at a craft store), but I can't find an onlne resource that shows how it is supposed to work.
Answer: yep, you are supposed to drape the fabric over the inner hoop and "fit' it into the larger outer hoop. Maybe the problem is her fabric is too thick? or you haven't made the inner hoop small enough? Keep trying it should work..
